Our house is called "Felicita" which means 'happiness' in Italian.
The house sleeps 4 and has 2 bedrooms (one king-size double and one twin ) bathroom, kitchen/dining room, sun terrace.
When you’re ready to venture out, the house is well located for the autostrada and mainline train system, both only 15 minutes drive; Genoa 1 hr, Pisa 1hr, sandy beaches 30 mins, skiing 1 hr, Olympic size pool & tennis courts 15 minutes.
Felicita is a 16th century villa standing on the edge of the un-spoilt medieval village of Irola. Walk to the house from your car for 150 metres through the tiny village, passing under charming vaulted passageways, turning the corner by the Madonna to a wonderful view, continuing past ancient portals to the edge of the village before arriving at the discreet entrance.
The front door opens into the fully fitted kitchen equipped with oven/hob
with overhead extractor
fan, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The beamed ceiling, terracotta tiled
floor and Tuscan fireplace fitted with cast iron wood burning stove complete the
picture of an atmospheric yet ultimately practical environment.
Through a low doorway and down three steps brings
you into the small inner hall, from which the open tread chestnut wood stairs
lead you up to the master bedroom. This is a lovely light and airy room with
beamed ceiling, original terracotta floor part covered by a beautiful
hand-made
Nepalese rug. The antique furniture creates a romantic ambience, and a low
window affords a dreamy view from the bed.
Accessed from the hall is the large tiled bathroom with vaulted ceiling, bath
with shower over, WC, washbasin and bidet.
The sitting room is equipped with wood burning stove, TV / DVD / CD player,
complimentary CD and DVD library, comfortable furniture and a window that frames
yet another beautiful view.
The second bedroom is off the sitting room and has an original terracotta floor
and vaulted ceiling; the view looks out over mile after mile of mountains and valleys.
The roof terrace is accessed from an external stone staircase. To the left of the front door a small shaded area is particularly pleasant for a couple to breakfast during the hot summer months. The spacious sun terrace has a brick barbeque a pergola and garden furniture for sun bathing, eating outside or simply enjoying the panoramic views of unspoilt countryside and mountains.
This
is truly a delightful private place to relax, enjoying the special life of a
tiny village, with superb views and glorious sunsets. You can walk for miles in
the beautiful surrounding countryside, or drive easily to the towns and cities
of Tuscany. Why not hide yourselves away and relax before exploring one of the
most civilised and beautiful places in the world.
